Was it me, or did Dallas seem to come out of the gate sluggish against Cleveland? Almost like they kind of underestimated Cleveland. I don't know if they mixed in some stuff Dallas hadn't seen, but they got some BIG chunks of yardage early on their first drive. Dallas settled in after that, for the most part, but I was surprised at the chunks of yards the D gave up, even with the injuries.
Dallas came back and won by 25, but I feel like they were off (or at least inconsistent) in the game defensively. Stat line shows that Dak only missed 6 passes, and I know at one point almost one third of their plays went for 10 yards or more on offense. 92 yards from Zeke, and over 100 receiving from Witten.
This team's on a roll right now. Let's enjoy the ride, guys!

I'll have to watch again, but I didn't get that feeling.
I saw Cleveland come out with some strange and gimmicky formations that had the defense confused. The biggest play of that opening drive for Cleveland was the pass to Crowell out of that weird two bunch set with down three lineman. The Cowboys were in zone. Lee made a bad read, and the defenders just split to the bunches and left the middle wide open for a big gain to the fifteen. Three plays and two yards later, Cleveland kicked a FG.
I'm wondering if maybe it was the laziness shown by Dez early. Sometimes, when he is not the designed target, he jogs through the play. I think the cameras caught that once or twice.

That one formation you're talking about was an unusual one. You're probably right, in that it's probably a case of a "busted coverage" due to something not seen yet, and someone losing track of who they're supposed to cover.
You may be right on the Dez thing, too. I'm hoping the WR coach or Garrett pulled him aside and had some words with him over that.

They came out with gimmick plays and tip your cap to the 2nd play. We were in the wrong defense for that and got gashed down the seam. But as we used to say, "they shot their load", it was game, set and match. They acknowledged that they were inferior in running two gimmick plays to start the game and from there it was a very workman like performance. They couldn't have been more efficient. Dez was more the decoy and coming off the injury he may have coasted on a few plays, to prevent wearing down. FYI, that can also be an effective route to get CB & S caught flat footed.
